Anaheim, Calif. (Oct. 15) - RMA Land Construction, Inc., (RMA) participated in the official groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the first Child Development Center at Naval Station Ford Island, and third new CDC at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii on October 5. In attendance were Capt. Richard Kitchens, Commander, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Capt. John Coronado, Commanding Officer, NAVFAC HI to participate in this historic event, marking the start of construction at the eight-acre site.
The $15.9 million contract, awarded to RMA-ECC, a joint venture, consists of the design and construction of a new single-story, 37,404 SF Child Development Center for 304 children ranging in age from six weeks through five years. The facility will feature 24 customized children activity rooms, commercial kitchen, administrative spaces, and outdoor courtyard play areas. Scheduled to open in January 2012, the center is designed to meet Base Architectural and Engineering Guidelines and the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Silver certification for sustainability.

RMA Wins Lighting Upgrade, Daylighting and Rooftop Photo-Voltaic System Project at Naval Air Station, North Island, California
Anaheim, Calif. (Oct. 15) - RMA Land Construction, Inc., (RMA) is supporting the Navy’s ongoing energy conservation and sustainable initiatives on another energy improvement project under the previously awarded Small Business Multiple Award Construction Contract from Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Southwest Division. The work will be performed at the existing Fleet Readiness Center located at Naval Air Station, North Island, California. The project entails the installation of new energy-efficient light fixtures, lighting controls, occupancy sensors, skylights, and exterior wall packs. RMA will also design and install a roof-mounted, grid-connected photo-voltaic system.

ECC-RMA, LLC Awarded Design-Build Project to Correct HVAC Deficiencies and Renovate Parking Lots at the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Los Angeles, California
Anaheim, Calif. (Oct. 15) – ECC-RMA, LLC was awarded a $2.4 Million design-build task order by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, under the previously awarded Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC), to perform HVAC modifications and repair parking lots at the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System in Los Angeles, California. RMA will relocate 20-ton air conditioning units, install new electrical panels, and modify existing ductwork in order to correct HVAC deficiencies in the computer room. The North Campus, South Campus and Sepulveda parking lots will be demolished and repaved with new traffic control markings to accommodate the anticipated increase in the volume of patients. Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the project is scheduled to complete in October of 2011.

(Oct. 15) - RMA Land Construction, Inc., (RMA) was awarded a $10.65 Million design-build task order under a previously awarded Small Business Multiple Award Construction Contract from Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Southwest Division. URS Group is the lead design firm providing architectural and engineering services on RMA’s team.
The project consists of a new single-story, 26,910 square foot Marine Reserve Training Center (MRTC) and 6,332 square foot vehicle holding shed at the Naval Weapons Station, Seal Beach, California. Site features include a concrete parking for tactical vehicles, porous asphalt pavement parking lot, roadways and sidewalks, and landscaping. Low Impact Development (LID) strategies will be incorporated into the site design and contribute to sustainability goals. The building will be designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED®-NC Version 3 Gold Level Certification and is scheduled to complete in April of 2012. Issuance of a planned modification will increase the task order value to $11.3 Million.

(Oct. 15) - RMA Land Construction, Inc., (RMA) was awarded a $9.8 Million design-build task order under a previously awarded Small Business Multiple Award Construction Contract from Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Southwest Division. Providing architectural and engineering services on RMA’s team is lead design firm, C.H. Guernsey. The project consists of the demolition and consolidation of Naval Warfare Center - Weapons Division buildings at Point Mugu, Naval Base Ventura County, California. The scope of work includes demolition of over 100,000 square feet of cold-war era complexes and deteriorating buildings and the new construction of laboratory and office facilities. RMA was one of six proposers on this task order. The project is scheduled for completion in April of 2012.
