RMA Land Construction, Inc. Performs Lighting Improvements in Support of the Navy’s Energy Conservation and Sustainable Initiatives

Anaheim, Calif. (March 5) - RMA Land Construction, Inc., (RMA) is supporting the Navy’s energyand water conservation goals in the upgrade of the exterior lighting system and replacement of plumbing fixtures at Port Hueneme and Point Mugu at the Navy Base Ventura County in California. With the replacement of 1195 light fixtures, 722 at Port Hueneme and 473 at Point Mugu, the $2.3 Million Design-Build Facility Energy Improvements project is Phase 4 of one of the largest retrofit projects in the Navy’s history.

RMA is installing new high efficiency fluorescent induction and LED lights that will provide the Navy with 50-60% reduction in energy consumption and a longer lifespan of 10-12 years. The environment also benefits with the reduction of CO2 emissions that are byproducts of burning fossil fuels. The lights have improved durability and minimal maintenance requirements, resulting in decreased total cost of ownership.

As part of the project’s sustainable design features, RMA will also replace 408 existing urinals, 167 at Port Hueneme and 241 at Point Mugu, with new water efficient models that include motion activated, low-flow flush valves. The base’s high water usage urinals will be replaced with ultra low consumption fixtures that require a mere 1/8th the volume of their conventional counterparts.
